Well, wasn’t Aintree marvellous? Three days of brilliant racing topped off by the little legend Tiger Roll winning back-to-back Grand Nationals.

Inevitably, there was as much talk during the meeting about what the ladies of Liverpool would be wearing, and how they might be behaving, as there was the action on the course.

A senior editor of the Liverpool Echo took pre-emptive action against those looking to make a mockery of the female racegoers, writing a letter to the Daily Mail asking them to focus on the positives rather than pursuing negatives when publishing photos.
