What a cruel weekend – you only need to have watched the Coral-Eclipse to wonder what might have been.

On Saturday the imperious Enable shrugged off her Sandown rivals in a way that left many wondering if there is anything out there that could beat her this season.

Less than 24 hours later came the devastating news that Sea Of Class, the filly who came extraordinarily close to doing just that in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe nine months earlier, was fighting for her life.
