Saxon Warrior all set to make headlines as a three-year-old
Saxon Warrior's Racing Post Trophy win was understandably something of a sideshow to Aidan O'Brien's superb achievement of breaking Bobby Frankel's record, but the son of Deep Impact could be making his own headlines next year.
Ryan Moore's mount travelled beautifully through the race before finding plenty to retain his perfect record. A Racing Post Rating of 119 indicates this was a good performance in a quality renewal of a race that is often an excellent trial for the following year's Classics.
However, the result could well have been different if Roaring Lion had been able to delay his challenge even further. He is progressing really well with racing but has shown a notable trait to hang to his left under pressure. Having seemingly arrived with a race-winning move, this was once again in evidence, rather opening the door for Saxon Warrior, who to his credit needed no second invitation.
