Santini jumped right into the Gold Cup picture with a career-best Racing Post Rating of 173 for his win in the Cotswold Chase on Saturday.

That figure is bang on average for a typical Gold Cup winner going into Cheltenham and, with Nicky Henderson promising more to come, there is a good chance he can improve again to grab the crown in March.

The average RPR for a Gold Cup winner stands at 177. Judging by his profile and the way he travels and stays there is every reason to believe Santini is capable of that standard.
