On the plus side, rain helped to quicken up the Al Bahathri Polytrack, which received plenty of business, not least from William Haggas, who had this weekend's September Stakes favourite Dubai Honour among his workers.

Others of interest from this quarter included two-year-old Piccadilly Circus (Richard Hills). who was watched by Royal Ascot Racing Club manager Harry Herbert.
