Ruby Walsh, Mikey Fogarty and Hugh Cahill to join RTE racing coverage
Ruby Walsh will join his father Ted on RTE's racing coverage at Leopardstown over Christmas, while Hugh Cahill will be part of the presenting team in the absence of Robert Hall, who is recovering from illness.
Twelve-time Irish champion jockey Walsh is currently nursing a broken leg so RTE have snapped up his expertise. He will join the coverage for three of the four days at Leopardstown, while recently-retired rider Mikey Fogarty will be in front of the camera for the other afternoon.
Hall will be returning to front RTE's racing coverage later in the year but Cahill, who has presented the 2FM radio show 'Game On' for the last three years, has been chosen as his temporary replacement for the Christmas coverage.
Cahill, a native of Greystones, said: "It came as a big shock to me but I'm privileged to have been asked. I'm really looking forward to the challenge and it will certainly be the driest Christmas I have ever had!"
He added: "I have always had a keen interest in horseracing and we try to give it lots of coverage on my radio show, Game On. It's sure to be a fantastic four days at Leopardstown and with Ted, Ruby and Mikey Fogarty beside me, I'm sure they will provide plenty of entertainment for viewers."
RTE will be at Leopardstown for all four days of the Christmas festival, while the feature race at Limerick will also be shown live on the channel from December 26 to December 29.
