Royal Ascot unlikely to be on agenda for superstar mare Winx

Ascot's burning desire for Winx to race at next year's royal meeting looks unlikely be realised after the superstar mare's trainer Chris Waller expressed reservations about an international mission.

"It's going to be hard to get us on that plane," Waller said on Monday.

Ascot's director of racing Nick Smith is trying to convince Waller and Winx's owners to run in either the Queen Anne Stakes or Prince of Wales's Stakes, but Smith's persuasive skills will need to be even greater than usual.
