Roger Varian outlines Group 1 plan for 'exceptionally good' Sakheer
Exciting two-year-old Sakheer is likely to be supplemented for the Group 1 Darley Dewhurst Stakes next month after headlining a stunning seven-timer for trainer Roger Varian when winning the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury.
Just six days after winning a second St Leger with Eldar Eldarov, Varian took Saturday by storm, with three winners at both Newbury and Ayr and one at Newmarket including Group-race success with exciting juvenile Sakheer and speedy three-year-old Mitbaahy.
Saturday's Group 1 Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes has not been totally ruled out for Sakheer, although Varian conceded the Dewhurst on October 8, for which connections would need to supplement Sakheer at a cost of £35,000, was a more likely next target.
