Robert Havlin sidelined until the end of next month after Kempton melee
Robert Havlin expects to be out of action for at least six weeks after breaking his collarbone and fracturing a rib in a fall at Kempton on Wednesday.
Speaking on Thursday from his bed in St George's Hospital in London, Havlin said: "I'm a bit banged up and after a CT scan they've told me I have a broken collarbone and a cracked rib.
"They thought I had a collapsed lung at first but, thankfully, that is okay. I keep getting back spasms which hurts my rib but hopefully I'm on the mend."
The Scottish jockey was displaced from the fatally injured Beehaar in a coming together with Lieutenant Conde, ridden by Charlie Bennett, on the home turn of a mile handicap.
Bennett was subsequently banned for 12 days for his part in the incident which caused Havlin's mount to clip heels and come down.
Long attached to the John Gosden yard, Havlin is fourth in the all-weather jockeys' championship on 36 winners.
As the start of the Flat season is not until the end of March, it could have been worse for Havlin, who hopes to be back before then.
He said: "February is a quiet month on the whole and I expect it will be six weeks until I'm back in action, but hopefully I'll be back for the start of the Flat."
