Leading trainer Richard Fahey insists he will not take on any more apprentices after the BHA announced significant changes to the split of riding fees and prize-money for young riders.

Fahey has been responsible for many leading apprentices, including title winners Paul Hanagan and Freddy Tylicki, but described the new breakdown of fees as “extremely disappointing”.

The Musley Bank trainer has had apprentice title runner-up Sean Davis among others in his ranks this year and believes the perception of trainers making good money out of having apprentices is wrong.
