Maxime Tissier rode a winner on his first visit to the track when Gregarious defied a market drift to edge out Commodore by a nose in the 1m7½f handicap hurdle.

The Lucy Wadham-trained grey drifted out to 20-1 from half that price in the morning but turned the market on its head when returning to form in the testing conditions.

Tissier, who claims 7lb but cannot ride as a conditional, was partnering his sixth winner from just 18 rides for Wadham.
