Expert jury: would you side with Star Catcher or Fleeting in a rematch?
Three Racing Post writers provide their views
Star Catcher beat Fleeting in the Irish Oaks to make it 2-0 in their private battles, but the winner appeared to get the run of the race at the Curragh, benefiting from a Frankie Dettori masterclass. Three Racing Post experts give their view on who they would expect to come out on top if the pair clash again . . .
Dettori the difference
There is no doubt it was another Frankie Dettori masterclass from the front. Star Catcher gained first run on her rivals and Fleeting could reverse the form in the future.
A stout stayer, Star Catcher was best placed throughout and seized an unassailable advantage when quickening two furlongs from the finish.
Fleeting was not unlucky in the run, as was the case in the Ribblesdale, but faced a stiff task from her position in chasing home the winner.
I certainly would not give up on third Pink Dogwood, who was hemmed in by Search For A Song at a crucial stage before staying on.

Always booked for second
I have no doubt Fleeting has more natural ability but Star Catcher wanted it more at Ascot and again at the Curragh so that winning mentality would sway me in her favour were they to meet again.
Fleeting is the type of filly who will always look unlucky. There will be plenty who think she would have got up in another few strides but I'm not so sure. I think they could have galloped all the way into the local town of Naas and she probably would have remained a half-length down.
Fleeting is the type of filly who could be placed in an Arc, but Star Catcher is a filly who will win races she should win. She's straightforward and tough and those two attributes take you a long way in racing.

Always in command
Just like the Irish Derby, another Curragh Classic was won from the front. There was a feeling that Padraig Beggy stole last month's race on 33-1 shot Sovereign and, although Star Catcher benefited from the latest Frankie Dettori special, there was no whiff of a robbery this time.
Dettori might have set his own fractions but Star Catcher is just a rapidly improving filly who always looked in command. She has shown her versatility as she posted a victory in contrast to the Ribblesdale when she came from midfield.
Fleeting threatened to challenge close home but in a repeat of Royal Ascot, Star Catcher found more to win a shade cosily at the line and I would expect her to make it 3-0 should they meet again.
