Mark Johnston, the man who broke the record for the most numbers of winners in a month in July, has reaped the rewards for frequently running his horses. In the remarkable King's Advice the trainer has a horse to represent everything he stands for.

Five months after winning a Lingfield handicap off a mark of 71, the five-year-old produced a performance of great tenacity under top weight to win the £100,000 1m6f handicap off a 37lb higher rating, making it eight wins from nine starts since joining the yard.

Johnston said: "It's quite incredible. I never really believe they know they’re winning or they’re losing, but if there’s ever a horse who wants to put his head back in front it’s him.
