Williams: 'He was weaving in and out like a pizza delivery driver in rush hour'
Saturday: Uttoxeter
Evan Williams had quite the comparison for Adam Wedge after his determination helped the trainer secure a 49-1 double.
The jockey steered Henry Box Brown to a first success in Britain when landing the 2m handicap hurdle.
It was followed with a striking performance from Can You Call in the feature 2m4f handicap hurdle as, despite a mistake at the second-last, he won by eight lengths from Hermes Boy in second.
Williams said: "Our jockey was very clever because he was weaving in and out like a pizza delivery driver in the rush hour traffic trying to make up ground.
"You have to be careful with those winning distances when the ground was as bad as it got and it could've been flattering, but it's nice to see him get his head in front."
The Grade 1-winning trainer, who is up to 23 winners for the season, has been pleased with the yard's progress.
He said: "It's always good to get a winner anywhere, we don't care what time of the year it is.
"We've nothing to moan about and I'd love to do just that, but we have plenty of good and bad days and we just keep ticking away quietly."
Hat-trick hero
The David Pipe-trained Shot Boii brought up a career hat-trick after success in the 2m7½f handicap hurdle.
The five-year-old recorded back-to-back victories at Lingfield and extended his record to four wins in nine starts over hurdles as he pulled half a length clear of William Philo under Fergus Gillard.
