Who would your money be on for the 2023 Cheltenham Gold Cup?
'Gold Cups are seldom won as easily'
A little too soon to be parting with cash but I'll side with A Plus Tard. Gold Cups are seldom won as easily, and the manner in which A Plus Tard put the race to bed after jumping the last was seriously impressive.
He needs to go left-handed and there are very few Grade 1s he can actually compete in, so I'd expect to see him in the Betfair Chase and Savills Chase en route to the Gold Cup again next term.
Galopin Des Champs is shorter than A Plus Tard in the 2023 Gold Cup betting but I think that is incorrect. Willie Mullins mentioned the idea of dropping Galopin Des Champs to two miles and he wouldn't look out of place in the Champion Chase next season considering the speed he has.

'The value remains with L'Homme Presse'
This is a less confident shout than it might have been before today's Gold Cup but the value remains with L'Homme Presse. Galopin Des Champs is still taking out loads of the market but you have to doubt if such an enthusiastic sort can keep enough of a lid on it for three and a quarter miles.
L'Homme Presse ran right through the line in the Brown Advisory, so you would be confident of him seeing out the extra two furlongs.
Robbie Power on Minella Indo knew today that the only way to beat A Plus Tard is to draw the sting from him, and L'Homme Presse's rider Charlie Deutsch is the sort of rider to take the hint.

'He can improve again'
I couldn't have A Plus Tard at the prices as I think he had his absolute optimum conditions this year and the race set up perfectly for him.
Galopin Des Champs and L'Homme Presse are extraordinary talents but neither are particularly tasty prices now. Monkfish (16-1) would be of interest on his top-class novice chase form from last year, while Ahoy Senor (20-1) shaped very well in the Brown Advisory and if brushing up his jumping would be perfect for this race. Add in serene National Hunt Chase winner Stattler (20-1) and you've got plenty to get excited about.
I'll go for the last-named, who produced a career-best performance to win a race that often has a bearing on the Gold Cup and can improve again.
