Who was your biggest eyecatcher over jumps on Saturday?

'There most certainly is another big race in him'

I wouldn't be shocked if Potterman could be Alan King's Scottish National horse for this season following another gallant run in the Badger Beer Chase.

The eight-year-old, who was awarded the bet365 Gold Cup in the stewards' room at Sandown in April, filled the runner-up spot in the Wincanton feature for the second year running here. And while he was beaten two and quarter lengths this time, you can mark up the run as it was off a 6lb higher mark than in 2020.

Provided the handicapper is sensible with his current rating of 148, there most certainly is another big race in him. Given he performs best on a sound surface, keep him in your tracker for the spring. We all know how much the Scot King loves to try and win his country's biggest jumps race.

'He jumped proficiently and wants further'

I cannot help but think the connections of Time To Get Up would have been satisfied with the performance of their eight-year-old in the Grand Sefton Chase at Aintree.

Okay, so he finished last and was somewhat awkward in the closing stages having been sent off 8-1. But the clear and stated aim from trainer Jonjo O'Neill was to see how he took to the fences and handled the environment at Aintree.

Given a good sight of the fences by his rider Tom Scudamore, Time To Get Up jumped proficiently. The fact he was outpaced and never a factor is not much of a surprise given he is a Midlands National winner, so he wants further and his aim is the Grand National, which is in April rather than November.

'That tells you plenty about the engine she must have'

I thought Rose Of Arcadia shaped nicely in the mares' hurdle at Wincanton. She raced too keenly to hold off the challengers from the second-last, but should improve for the run and probably won't be as fresh next time either.

She's clumsy and hit several of her hurdles, but still looked likely to win coming to the second-last and that tells you plenty about the engine she must have.

She looks the type who will make a better chaser than hurdler in time and it will be interesting to see whether connections decide to explore that route in the near future or stay hurdling. Whichever route she goes, she should be capable of picking up a nice race.
