Which is the best two-year-old performance you have seen this season?

'He blew it apart'

Little Big Bear in the Phoenix Stakes. Auguste Rodin might have more scope for improvement next year and was pretty flawless in the Vertem Futurity Trophy but it didn't match the explosiveness of Little Big Bear at the Curragh in August.

He beat the first two home in the Coventry by a long, long way as well as the Railway Stakes winner who had already beaten Blackbeard. It was probably the most competitive juvenile race of the season and he blew it apart. A shoutout to Tahiyra in the Moyglare Stakes as well; that was classy.

'It was simply stunning'

I think there is little doubt that Auguste Rodin has put up the best performance. His Vertem Futurity win was simply stunning.

In a race in which some of his rivals showed their immaturity, he stayed on the straight and narrow and stormed clear in conditions he would have hated. Imagine what he will be able to do when he has his optimum ground.

While plenty will have him as their Derby banker, I really fancy him for the Guineas given the great recent record of Doncaster winners in the Newmarket Classic.

'Seven-length victory a clear standout'

From a Derby perspective, Auguste Rodin put down a serious market at Doncaster. I'd say he is more in the mould of previous Vertem Futurity winners High Chaparral and Motivator, who went on to win the Epsom Classic, than he is 2,000 Guineas winners Saxon Warrior and Magna Grecia.

Realistically, no juvenile performance was ever going to match Little Big Bear's seven-length victory in the Phoenix Stakes, which is a clear standout, although I rate Mill Reef winner Sakheer highly and make Fillies' Mile heroine Commissioning the one to beat in the 1,000 Guineas and Oaks.
