Who is your idea of the 2,000 Guineas winner now the key trials have been run?

Three Racing Post experts evaluate the season's first Classic

O'Brien duo the pick at the prices

Skardu showed a nice turn of foot to win the Craven and has clearly improved since his maiden success over seven furlongs at the track last year, but plenty went his way and I'm not entirely sure he would confirm the form with several of his rivals, let alone win the 2,000 Guineas. 6-1 is too short. Too Darn Hot is the obvious one for the Newmarket Classic if he resumes his progress from last season, but there have to be doubts after he missed the Greenham and at the prices I'd rather back both of Aidan O'Brien's talented duo, Ten Sovereigns and Magna Grecia.

Great Scot the value call

Skardu's Craven win looks a fair way off Guineas-winning form. With the Godolphin pair a bit disappointing, it's now more likely that Persian King travels over to Newmarket for a rematch with Magna Grecia. Too Darn Hot aside, those two set the standard. Great Scot will like going back up to a mile on better ground and looks the best outsider.

Marine can be seen to better effect

None of the trials threw up a surefire winner of the race, but there are a lot of runners who a case can be made for. Among those is Royal Marine, who was too keen and then got boxed in against the rail in the Craven. A hood will be on next time to try and counteract his keenness and he does not have much to find to be in the mix.
