'We're delighted to beat the record' - Git Maker helps Snowden to season best
Saturday: Newcastle
Despite being under a double penalty, Git Maker battled valiantly in the 2m4½f novice hurdle as trainer Jamie Snowden broke his record of wins in a season.
The Lambourn-based trainer landed his 47th victory of the campaign, breaking his previous record of 46 when the season was halted before the coronavirus pandemic.
"We're delighted to beat the record and it's a milestone for the business to get a winner at every jumps track," said Snowden.
"It's a fabulous team effort and I'm very lucky with the team as well as the owners who support us."
Under Kevin Brogan, who is also enjoying his best return, Git Maker made it three wins from four starts over hurdles.
"He's a really exciting horse to go novice chasing with next season,” said Snowden.
"He'll want a step up in trip and probably softer ground, but he's got away with winning as it’s always hard to win under a double penalty, and with the ground being more lively to what he likes."
Family connections
Morozov Cocktail was on hand to produce a winning performance in the 2m7½f handicap chase for the father and son partnership of Tim and William Easterby.
Tim, who trains the six-year-old at his North Yorkshire stables, picked up a 12th victory of the season as he continues to enjoy his best term since 2014.
