Regular racegoers at Cartmel will know all about Wells De Lune's exploits at the track, and the eight-year-old boosted his course record to five wins from five runs by making all in the feature 2m1f handicap hurdle.

Ridden by James Bowen, Wells De Lune was bounced out into an early lead and never saw another rival, jumping fluently and galloping on strongly from the final flight to run out a one-and-a-half-length victor.

Owned by The Smith Swinburne Partnership, Wells De Lune has been prolific over hurdles and fences throughout his career and this victory, which rewarded connections with just over £25,000, is likely to set him up for another crack at the track next week.
