Lewis Edmunds, 18, is a rider to note. Based with Kevin Ryan, he had four rides without success in 2015, but has done well this year and brought his tally to 15 winners from 118 rides by landing the 7f handicap on the well-supported 10-3 shot Al Khan, who was coming back to form after failing to get home when tried over a mile at Chelmsford on his previous start.

Edmunds has the pedigree to make a decent jockey – his father Jason and mother Clare were successful riders as was his grandfather John Balding.
