The BHA chief executive Nick Rust was on hand to greet Paddling after the six-year-old had bolted up in the 2m3f handicap chase to continue the fine run of his trainer Micky Hammond.

Rust is the principal shareholder in owners Masters Of The Hall 2 and he said: "It has been a long wait. I have shares in six horses and this is my first winner for about 18 months so I'm going to have to keep the day job going."

A running-on third over 2m at the course last week, Paddling appreciated the longer distance and, under Finian O'Toole, went on at the third-last and drew right away to win by 14 lengths.
