Walsh back in the winning groove after last season's National success

Eoin Walsh, who ended last season on a high when winning the Leinster National, got the new season up and running with a well-judged ride on front-running outsider Cornakill Rose in the 2m4f mares' maiden hurdle.

The young conditional rode 17 winners in his first full season in the saddle and enjoyed his biggest success in the saddle in the famous Gigginstown colours on Cap York in the Leinster National in March.

That was one of 14 winners for his boss Noel Meade and Walsh again showed his talent in judging the pace perfectly on the Patrick Magee-trained mare, who had failed to win under the likes of Davy Russell, Jack Kennedy, Jamie Codd and Nina Carberry.
