Vinny and Silvestre make it Brazilian carnival time in the rain at Pontefract

Forget the miserably grey and wet weather – this was a Brazilian day in West Yorkshire.

The Sao Paulo native Silvestre de Sousa is a familiar sight in these parts and the former champion jockey rode a double on Rayong and Angel's Whisper.

But compatriot Jose Vininalaquias is a newer name, hailed as the key ingredient after Mews House boosted David Brown's phenomenal strike-rate with victory in the 5f handicap under Paul Mulrennan.
