Having been available at 8-1 for a short time on Monday evening, the seven-year-old was heavily supported down to a starting price of 6-4 favourite. His many backers never had a worrying moment as Jonathan Moore punched him out to score by 16 lengths from Robert’s Star.

Curtis said: “Last season was a write-off for a variety of reasons but the plain fact of the matter is the horses were just never right and you cannot win races with horses that are out of form for whatever reasons. It was a frustrating but character-building time and hopefully it's now something of the past.
