The Henry Brooke-ridden Bon Chic fended off the persistent Eternally Yours to spring a surprise in the Mares' Handicap Hurdle over 2m4f.

Sent off a 25-1 outsider, the Jimmy Moffatt-trained nine-year-old stayed on gamely and will now head to the Northern Lights Series Finals at Carlisle on December 2.

Trainer Moffatt said: "Carlisle is a valuable meeting and the mares' race over two and a half miles will suit her fine. The drop in class has helped but we never had her down as a heavy ground type until today."
