Unbeaten Espoir D’Allen delights Cromwell with a dazzling display

Gavin Cromwell, who did so well with Jer’s Girl as a juvenile, looks to have another smart youngster to carry JP McManus’s silks in Espoir D’Allen, the silky smooth winner of Sunday's Grade 3 hurdle at Fairyhouse.

Espoir D’Allen, now unbeaten in his three starts for Cromwell, was trimmed into a general 10-1 shot for the Triumph Hurdle and his trainer predicts there will be bigger days to follow.

“Hopefully we haven’t seen the best of him yet,” Cromwell said. “He is by Voix Du Nord, they dig deep and this fella hasn't been asked yet, but I think he'll stay very well and all his work suggests that."
