For many the core jumps campaign does not start until next month at the earliest, but fans are in for a pre-season treat this Thursday with last season’s Champion Bumper winner Ballyandy set to make his hurdles debut at Perth.

The excitement could be cranked up even further as Moon Racer, who won the Champion Bumper the previous season, is also entered for the Racing Post Readers Award Novices’ Hurdle alongside smart Flat performer Mirsaale.

Whatever the opposition, Nigel Twiston-Davies, speaking after Templehills won the 2m4f maiden hurdle in his colours yesterday, confirmed the trip to Scotland for his bumper star.
