After Big Casino landed the 2m6½f handicap chase, his trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies issued an upbeat bulletin regarding his jockey son Sam, who has been sidelined since sustaining a spleen injury in a fall at Chepstow almost three weeks ago.

He said: “Sam is out of hospital and is much better than he was a couple of weeks ago, as he's now going to Oaksey House in Lambourn nearly every day to get himself back to proper fitness.

“There's no date for his comeback but if he keeps progressing there's every chance he'll see the doctors later next week and hopefully then it will be not long before he's passed fit to ride again, as he wants to be back before the Open meeting at Cheltenham.”
