Once upon a time Turban was running against some of the very best horses at the very biggest meetings. However, these days the old lad is nowhere near as smart, and nor are the horses he races against, but on a sunny Monday at Plumpton he became a winner once again.

For Willie Mullins, Turban competed at the Cheltenham, Aintree and Punchestown festivals, achieving a career-high rating of 153.

In February last year, he chased home stablemates Boston Bob and On His Own in a Grade 2 prize but after two more runs was sold, joining the Whitsbury yard of Paul Henderson.
