Tuesday 'in the mix for all the top autumn races' after positive York return
Connections of Tuesday are keeping their options open after the three-year-old chased home Alpinista in the Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks.
Tuesday finished third in the 1,000 Guineas in May and went one better behind Homeless Songs in the Irish equivalent before beating Emily Upjohn following a tight finish in the Oaks at Epsom in June.
She had not been seen since finishing fourth in the Irish Derby at the end of June and Aidan O'Brien was delighted with her performance to finish a length behind Alpinista, with La Petite Coco claiming third.
"That was her first run back and she ran a very good race," said the trainer. "She wasn't losing ground towards the line. She got a bit hot beforehand but she's back to form and could run on Irish Champions Weekend. She'll be in the mix for all the top races in the autumn."
Tuesday is a general 16-1 chance for the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, while Alpinista is as short as 11-2 with bet365 for the Group 1.
Tuesday, sent off at 7-2, went second with a furlong to travel under Ryan Moore and kept on well to finish second behind the favourite. "She ran a very good race," said Moore. "The winner was tough."
La Petite Coco, winner of the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes, finished third ahead of Lilac Road, with Magical Lagoon in fifth for Jessica Harrington, whose daughter Kate said: "Everything seems fine.
"She didn't get a good enough gallop on that ground. We'll have to let the dust settle before we discuss future targets but we've always said she'll be better as a four-year-old. That won't change our minds. She needs rattling fast ground and we're hoping for a dry autumn."
