Truffles lands main prize at Fairyhouse's final Flat meeting of the year

Fairyhouse's final Flat meeting of the year provided 17-year-old Gavin Ryan with the fourth winner of his career when he made all on Truffles to land the main prize on the eight-race card – the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap.

Trained by Sheila Lavery for her brother John, Truffles's only previous win came in a 7f maiden at the track last season and the 6-1 shot landed yesterday's feature by one and a quarter lengths

John Lavery said: "Truffles can be a hot and tricky filly and you have to ride her very gently. You have to let her break and do her own thing, but she's game and everything worked well today."
