Tregoning team delighted with Atalanta Breeze after 273 days off
Monday: Brighton
Marcus Tregoning was full of praise for young jockey Harry Davies, who brought up a double on the day aboard Atalanta Breeze in the 1m4f handicap.
Racing away from the rest of the field, the six-year-old finished strongly under Davies to record a two-length victory, adding to Tregoning's plethora of Brighton successes and ending a "painful 273-day wait" to get the filly back to the track.
Praising Davies' execution of a well-planned ride, Tregoning said: "She got a bit short of room and wasn't travelling well enough to hold her position, luckily Harry kept her interested and stuck with it, he felt she was leaning left so he went with her and it got us the win."
Tregoning's daughter Jess added: "I rode Atalanta Breeze yesterday myself and she gave me a brilliant feel. I love this filly and she has a great personality, you can never miss her huge ears!
"Dad trained his first winner at Brighton and it seems to be a lucky place for us, long may it continue."
This was a second victory on the card for Davies, who earlier won aboard the Jim Boyle-trained Angels Roc in the 1m2f apprentice handicap.
Botti in fine spirits
After a controversial St Leger third on Sunday, Marco Botti was able to celebrate a winner as Inspirited pulled away to land the 7f maiden by four and a quarter lengths.
