Amateur rider Freddy Tett had a nightmare journey to the track, but his endeavours were rewarded when partnering Captain Kissinger to a shock 50-1 success in the 2m juvenile maiden hurdle.

Tett, who has represented Great Britain in the Fegentri championship series for amateur riders, mainly plies his trade abroad and nearly missed the race after a heavily disrupted trip back from riding at Bordeaux on Tuesday.

"My flight last night was cancelled so I flew from Bordeaux to Paris Charles de Gaulle and then to Birmingham, where I had to get a taxi here as my car was at Gatwick," said the 25-year-old. "I only just made it but riding is an addiction."
