Trailblazing Master Tommytucker reminds Paul Nicholls of a young Cyrname

Champion trainer Paul Nicholls had plenty to smile about at the weekend following Cyrname’s defeat of Altior and the smile remained in place on Monday after Master Tommytucker returned from a lengthy period off the track with a hard-fought success in the 2m2f beginners’ chase at Kempton.

The eight-year-old had raced only three times and not since October 2018 when he fell and fractured his knee in a Listed chase at Chepstow.

He travelled with zest in front in a race featuring Supreme Novices’ Hurdle second Thomas Darby, versatile Northumberland Plate winner Who Dares Wins and Tom George’s The Big Bite.
