Track records broken as Championship follows up

This was the best meeting of the 2017 Dubai World Cup Carnival so far and it was highlighted by a Group 2 Zabeel Mile won in style by the Ahmad bin Harmash-trained Championship.

In doing so, he and Colm O’Donoghue not only set a new track record but were able to emulate Godolphin’s Safety Check, winner of this race under a penalty for each of the past two seasons having won the 7f Group 2 Al Fahidi Fort.

Coincidentally, the retirement of Safety Check – to stand at stud in Argentina – was announced earlier in the day.
