Sam Twiston-Davies hit a century of winners for the fifth consecutive season after the Alastair Ralph-trained Broughtons Admiral ran out a convincing winner of the 2m juvenile maiden hurdle.

The four-year-old had been as big as 7-2 in the morning but was sent off the 9-4 favourite on course and was never in any real danger after travelling with purpose, before hitting the front at the penultimate hurdle and readily stretching nine lengths clear of Romanor.

Twiston-Davies, whose Saturday column in the Racing Post is always worth a read, said: “Every year I start with the target of getting another 100 winners on the board as it’s a good number to take aim at and to do it for the fifth time is very satisfying.
