Tobefair had the Welsh singing a day ahead of the country's rugby World Cup semi-final when starting his new season with a gutsy win at Cheltenham.

The nine-year-old is indelibly linked to the Pertemps Network series of handicap hurdles, so appropriately started his new season with a win in the first of the qualifiers for the grand final at the festival next March.

Whether Tobefair tries to make it third time lucky in that race or in something bigger remains to be seen after he defied top weight in testing conditions.
