Colin Tizzard on top as trainer dominates with 'beautiful' treble
Wednesday: Exeter
"It doesn't get any better than that," hailed trainer Colin Tizzard as he celebrated a 274-1 treble with three exciting horses "full of potential".
Jpr One started proceedings by making a winning debut in the 2m½f novice hurdle.
"It was a beautiful start," said the trainer. "It was his first time on a racecourse and he beat a 135-rated horse [evens favourite Luttrell Lad]."
Striking A Pose landed the 2m3f limited handicap chase, while Shirocco's Dream capped off a successful afternoon in the 2m2½f mares' novice hurdle.
"The second one was striking. When we put the saddle on him it looked as though he'd grown another two inches higher. He's a lovely strong horse, he did nothing wrong last year.
"The mare stuck it out well. Two furlongs out there were five or six going better than her and she still won.
"These three are full of potential and have got their lives in front of them. It will be interesting to see how far they go."
Tizzard praised his jockey Brendan Powell, who rode all three winners, adding: "Confidence is everything and he's riding as well as anyone in the country at the moment."
When asked about their fine recent form, he added: "Joe's doing the training – when you hit a bit of form you win with nearly anything."
John Romans, who owns both Jpr One and Shirocco's Dream, said: "It's fantastic, it makes racing all worthwhile. A good day at the office, as they say."
