Time a fine healer as Discay wins after a long break through injury

Time is money, especially for owners of racehorses, but time is also a great healer as Discay proved by taking the 2m4½f handicap hurdle on his first run for 571 days.

He runs in the colours of John and Linda Oldroyd and his trainer Phil Kirby said: "He's had leg trouble and any owner who is prepared to give a horse the best part of two years off deserves to have a win."

Win he did, for Discay, who had been well supported in the morning markets and was sent off at 8-1, travelled well for Adam Nicol and scored by a length and a half from City Never Sleeps, who was also returning after a long break.
