Tim Easterby set to enter Hurstwood in Gimcrack after Spindrifter win

The old adage of backing the outsider of three paid dividends in the feature 6f conditions stakes at Pontefract as Hurstwood defied market expectation to land the £20,000 contest for Tim Easterby.

Hurstwood, owned and bred by David and Emma Armstrong, stayed on strongly to defeat Toro Strike by a length under David Allan.

The owners celebrated victory with Euxton Hall seven years ago in the same race which commemorates Spindrifter, who won 13 races for Sir Mark Prescott in his juvenile campaign in 1980.
