Ray Hackett described him as the horse who really got his operation started and, despite advancing years, Tidy Zag showed he still has it as he cruised to victory in the 2m handicap hurdle, setting up a first-ever double for the Toomevara trainer.

At the age of 12, Tidy Zag was posting only his fifth success, and first for three years, but that does not tell anything like the whole story as he has spent a couple of very lengthy periods on the sidelines since that previous victory.

"He's had a lot of physio to keep him right and I'd say it's the first time in three years we've been able to train him from race to race," said Hackett.
