Special Tiara (RPR 170) made it fourth time lucky in the Champion Chase by reproducing the rating he earned when finishing third behind Sprinter Sacre last year.

Although the winning time was almost identical to that posted by Altior the previous day, it was achieved in a very different manner with Special Tiara setting a fierce gallop and then taking over three seconds longer than the Arkle winner to get from the second last fence to the line.

Runner-up Fox Norton (170) bounced back to his best after being thrashed by Altior on ground softer than ideal at Newbury, while third home Sir Valentino (164) ran well but couldn't reproduce his Kempton figure when he just failed to give yesterday's winner six pounds. He may be ideally suited by a right-handed track.
