Thornton rejects talk of a pension book and vows to continue riding

After spending almost ten months on the easy list weighing room veteran Andrew Thornton was back in the saddle when partnering Kentford Myth to finish sixth behind Milan Of Crystal in the 2m4f mares' handicap hurdle.

The same mare had provided Thornton with his landmark 1,000th career victory when scoring at Wincanton last December, but he has been sidelined ever since with a knee injury which required surgery.

Following the race he declared: “It felt good to be back in the saddle as all the hard work I have done leading up to this day has obviously been worthwhile.
