Thomas still has what it takes to see off fellow old-timers

Veterans' chases were designed to give stars of yesteryear one last hurrah and no horse better meets the brief than Thomas Crapper.

The 11-year-old, placed at three Cheltenham Festivals, ended a 20-month losing run by seeing off fellow old-timers under Charlie Poste.

"He's been a star and how wonderful for these older horses that the calendar gives them opportunities like this," said trainer Robin Dickin. "This race should have been called 'Last Of The Summer Wine'!"
