'This is my best ever season' - Olly Murphy looking to climb the trainers' table
Sunday: Market Rasen
Olly Murphy’s yard is upwardly mobile and the trainer has aspirations to "climb the trainers' table" after topping up his best season with a double completed by the aptly named Let’s Have Another.
The six-year-old, co-owned by Harry Redknapp and the trainer’s father Aiden, had the assistance of champion jockey-elect Brian Hughes in achieving his first win over obstacles.
Murphy said: "It’s great to have a winner for Harry Redknapp. He’s a nice horse going forward and it's nice to give Brian Hughes a winner.
"He’s been a work in progress. His form has read well throughout the season and he deserved to get his head in front. We’ll give him another run. He liked the bit of nicer ground there and hopefully he'll progress."
The Warwickshire trainer is in his fifth season and in addition to posting his best campaign tally, he has also gone beyond the £1 million mark in prize-money.
"We’ve had a good season," he added. "We are always trying to improve and up the quality. This is my best ever season. I'm looking forward to getting back to zero now and starting again and trying to beat this season again.
"It's a case of just trying to get better horses into the yard and trying to climb that trainers' table. It’s hard but we’re only four and a half years into training; we’re going in the right direction and things are going well."
The trainer's double was initiated in the opening maiden hurdle by newcomer Racy Lacey, who came off the pace under David England to win by four and three-quarter lengths.
