Only two jockeys have ridden more Flat winners in Britain this year than hard-working Daniel Muscutt, who moved on to 48 for 2022 by landing the three-year-old handicap on Viadelamore.

He has reached double figures in each month of the season and is nine from 23 for the gelding's trainer James Ferguson.

"Things are going great," said the jockey, who trails only David Probert and Hollie Doyle in the standings for the year.

"I've worked hard all winter and got some nice yards to ride for, predominantly for James Ferguson plus James Fanshawe and Kevin Philippart de Foy. They're a nice bunch of people to have in your corner."

Viadelamore, beaten in all three runs at two, scored by a length and a half despite carrying top weight on his handicap debut.

"He's done really well from two to three," Muscutt said. "We did like him last year, his homework was always decent but he was always just a touch on the weak side at the races.

"He's strengthened up and matured a lot. He seems to have become a man and he's done that nicely."

Winn win

Teenage apprentice Mark Winn has struck up a good partnership with the David O'Meara-trained Mythical Madness, who is just seven years his junior, and the pair followed up recent Lingfield success by taking the claimer.

"He's 11 years old and he's slowly fallen down the handicap but last time out and today he seems to have found himself a bit again," said Winn, 18. He's getting a bit chubbier and you'd think he'd maybe not be as good but despite all the condition he's doing well."

Winn was riding his sixth winner and said: "I moved to David O'Meara and this year I'm having a proper go at it. He's good to work for, he's very laid back and you can easily go and speak to him.

"If I can get to 15 winners that will be great for the year but I just want to keep improving, that's the main thing."

Fellow 7lb claimer Ryan Sexton scored his own back-to-back win on Ha Long Bay in the mile handicap for Adrian Keatley.

Sense of excitement

Commonwealth Cup entry Sense Of Duty won the fillies' novice event at 2-9, the same price at which she landed a maiden last term.

"She's a beautiful filly," said jockey Tom Marquand. "She came here for a bit more education, she's clearly pretty smart and one to look forward to."
