In just over two weeks the first pair of Classic winners for 2019 will be known. But at this juncture finding the victors is an exercise that probably requires a crystal ball in addition to the form book.

No-shows, horses staying at home and muddled trial results have left a Guineas ante-post market shrouded in mystery for the three-year-old colts and fillies.

Too Darn Hot heads the betting for the Qipco 2,000 Guineas but that only tells half the story. The unbeaten son of Dubawi carried all before him at two and was an even-money shot for the Classic before last weekend's Greenham at Newbury.
