'That might be his swansong' - Doncaster specialist Rocky's Treasure strikes
Friday: Doncaster
Graded winner Rocky's Treasure may have made his last start a winning one after he struck for the first time in almost two years for Kim Bailey.
The 11-year-old set a course record in the Grade 2 December Novices' Chase in 2018 and returned to the site of his biggest triumph to win the veterans' handicap chase under Kai Lenihan.
Bailey said: "I'm really pleased for the horse. It's now the fourth time he's won at Doncaster and it was the first time Kai has ridden over fences for us and he gave him a fantastic ride.
"He won a lot as a novice but he's certainly a character. He didn't get higher than a hurdle at any of those fences, but he's always ran well here, I don't know why.
"The chances are that might be the horse's swansong – he's turning 12 soon and it would be lovely to retire him on a winning note. He's been a proper servant to us, a complete star, and I'll chat to the owners. It would be lovely to see him ride off into a new career after today."
O'Brien on top
Flatmates Paul O'Brien and Brendan Powell had to put their friendship to one side in a duel for the 2m½f handicap chase in which the pair pulled 46-lengths clear of their nearest rival.
O'Brien, aboard the Pam Sly-trained Xcitations, got the better of Elixir De Nutz by a neck and the jockey quickly followed up with success on Rathmacknee in the 2m3½f handicap hurdle.
