After a stellar career of 17 wins from 48 starts, four of them at Grade 2 level, time was called on the career of Hidden Cyclone after he finished third of the four runners behind Eight Till Late in the 2m rated hurdle.

At the age of 13, it looks the right decision for Shark Hanlon's stable star. A horse of terrific ability and great heart, the only thing missing from his CV was that Grade 1 success, which proved elusive despite a dozen bites at the cherry.

However, some of his best performances were in defeat at that top level, including narrow reverses in the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham and the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle, along with his last great performance, when swallowed late by Clondaw Warrior in the 2016 Galway Hurdle.
